WPR Principal Jacquie Boer hopped in a ute to gather her first forestry stories for iconic industry publication NZ Logger in 2002.
Since then she has interviewed, photographed, and even written and recorded songs about forestry industry people, machinery and issues all around New Zealand (from the Caitlins to Cape Reinga). She has written about forestry for Carbon News, NZ Truck and Driver Magazine, and NZ Logger (as its first editor and as a regular feature article contributor).
Since 2012 she has focused on telling stories about forestry and wood processing in Te Tau Ihu (the top of the South Island) and more recently has been working with the Radiata Pine Breeding Company, based in Christchurch and Rotorua.
More than two decades of telling stories focused on forestry people, their innovative ideas, and their passion for the environment in which they work led to Jacquie recently being nominated for the Woman in Forestry Award at the Top of the South Forestry Awards.
Jacquie developed a strategic communication platform for Nelson Forests that was
Lees Seymour, former Managing Director of Nelson Forests
genuine, authentic and truly represented who we were as a company. This platform
engaged our people and engaged the Nelson/Marlborough community. The messages
were extremely well crafted, on point and most importantly our people would read them
and say “that’s us”. Jacquie has a hugely unique skill to listen, understand and then to
reflect back to those she is working the essence of their story in a manner that is truly
special. Trust between our people and Jacquie was earned and maintained – a very
difficult thing to do.
